It's not built from so-called vectors but pixels, and a print shop or sign company can't work with that. That comes in very inconveniently, but what now?

What are vectors?

Maybe you've heard of the term "vector" before. Vectors are mainly used by professionals in the graphics and design industry. These vector files consist of so-called line information. Vectors are actually mathematical calculations and a vector is an anchor point. This anchor point is placed with a mathematical calculation in the X and Y axis. The anchor points then connect lines to each other that can make curves and arcs through formulas. When enlarging an image formatted with vectors, you don't need to worry about quality loss.

Advantage of vectors

The advantage of a vector is therefore that there's no quality loss of the image when it's edited. When an image is enlarged, the distance between the paths is recalculated and then adjusted in the correct proportions. Finally, the paths are filled again with the corresponding colors. This way, a vector file can be infinitely enlarged without the quality of the image deteriorating.

When are vectors needed

As we mentioned earlier, it's advisable to have your files converted to a vector file when you want to use them for promotional purposes such as folders, banners, engraving work, or vehicle lettering. The structure of vectors ensures that they are not dependent on resolutions, so a vector file always has the best possible resolution.

If you've had a logo made as a raster image or pixel file, it's certainly advisable to have it converted to a vector file. Because a logo that's razor-sharp ensures a good first impression of your company.
