You receive the regular vector files plus the embroidery-ready version in AI, EPS, PDF and SVG. JPG and transparent PNG included. Ready to send to your embroiderer or digitizer.

Why a regular logo often doesn't embroider well

A logo that looks perfect on your website or in print is not automatically suitable for embroidery. Thread has a minimum thickness: tiny details, hairlines and small text merge together or disappear. Gradients, shadows and subtle colour shades simply cannot be reproduced with thread.

With the embroidery-ready vector version we solve this upfront. We simplify and optimise your logo for embroidery while keeping its recognisable look. That way your embroidered logo looks just as good on polos, caps, bags or club kit as it does on paper.

From supplied file to production-ready version

A real-world example: how we turn a single customer file into a reliable vector master file and a version suitable for embroidery.

  1. Magnolia logo - Supplied file

    1Supplied file

    Original customer file

We receive the existing customer file and assess which elements need technical improvement.

    • Raster file (JPG or PNG)
    • Not ideal for professional production
    • Fine details and colour gradients can cause problems with certain production techniques
  2. Magnolia logo - Professional vector reconstruction

    2Professional vector reconstruction

    Clean, fully scalable vector file

The artwork is rebuilt by hand into a clean, professional vector master file: one reliable master from which every production variant can be created.

    • Rebuilt by hand
    • Shapes and lines cleaned up
    • Gradients rebuilt cleanly
    • Infinitely scalable
    • Master file for future use
  3. Magnolia logo - Production-optimised version

    3Production-optimised version

    Simplified for embroidery

Where needed, we adapt the artwork to the production technique. For embroidery, for example, small details are simplified, lines are strengthened and the number of colours is reduced.

    • Fewer colours
    • Gradients removed
    • Thin lines thickened
    • Small details simplified
    • Shapes more clearly separated
    • Original look preserved as far as possible
  4. Magnolia logo - Production result

    4Production result

Example of the embroidered end result

The production-ready version then forms the basis for a clean, reliable end result.

    • Design stays recognisable
    • Technical simplification means cleaner production
    • More consistent reproduction on clothing and textiles
    • More predictable end result

The final embroidery file (e.g. DST or PES) is digitised by the embroiderer.

What we adjust for embroidery

Every logo is different, and the embroidery size also determines how far we simplify: a small logo on the chest of a polo needs a different approach than a large embroidery on the back. These are the optimisations we make most often.

Small details simplified

Details too small to stitch are simplified or removed

Thin lines and text thickened

Lines and letters are brought up to a minimum width that stitches well

Fewer colours

We reduce the number of colours to usable thread colours

No gradients or shadows

Gradients and shadow effects are converted into solid colour areas

Overlapping shapes cleaned up

Overlapping and stacked shapes are cleaned up for a tidy basis

Recognisable logo

We only change what is necessary, so your logo stays instantly recognisable

Frequently asked questions

Do I also get an embroidery file (DST/PES)?

No. You receive a vector file optimised for embroidery, not a stitch file. Your embroiderer or digitizer converts this file into an embroidery file such as DST or PES. Because your logo has already been simplified and cleaned up, that process is easier and the result is better.

Will my logo stay recognisable?

Yes. We only adjust what is needed for good embroidery. Shapes, proportions and colours stay as close as possible to the original, so your logo remains instantly recognisable.

How do I order it?

Upload your logo via the order form and tick the Embroidery-ready vector version option. You will then receive both the regular vector files and the embroidery-ready version.

Do I need to know the embroidery size?

No, but it does help. The final size determines how far we simplify your logo: a small embroidery on the left chest of a polo needs a different approach than a large embroidery on the back. Don't know the size yet? No problem. We then choose a safe, extra simplified version, so your logo stays as widely usable as possible.

Can I order it afterwards?

Yes. Has your logo already been vectorised by us and would you like an embroidery-ready version after all? Contact us and we will arrange it for you.

How long does it take?

As standard you receive your files within 48 hours, including the embroidery-ready version. In a hurry? Choose rush delivery and you receive everything within 24 hours, for an extra fee per logo.
