Turn your photo into an illustration and vectorize it
A photo is made up of thousands of colours, shadows and soft gradients. That is why you can't simply vectorize a photo: a vector file works with crisp lines and solid shapes. Run a photo through an automatic converter and you end up with a messy result that is no use for printing or signage.
With our new service, it is now possible. We first redraw your photo digitally as a clear, flat illustration. We do this with the help of AI, after which our designers finish everything by hand. We then manually convert that illustration to vector, so you can use it at any size without losing quality.

What makes a good photo?
The better your photo, the better the illustration. Keep these points in mind:
Sharp - the subject is not blurry or out of focus.
Well lit - ideally daylight, without harsh shadows or backlight.
Clearly visible - the subject is fully in frame and not partly hidden.
High resolution - send the original file in the highest quality you have, preferably not a screenshot or a photo sent via a messaging app.

Is the illustration made with AI or by hand?
Both. We use AI as a tool to turn your photo into a first illustration. Our designers then finish everything by hand: lines, shapes, colours and details. Only then do we convert the illustration into a clean vector file.

You receive your illustration as a vector file in AI, EPS, PDF and SVG, plus a JPG and PNG for direct use on your website or social media.
How much does a photo to illustration cost?
We work with custom pricing, as the price depends on the number of people or animals, the background and the level of detail. You always get a price estimate up front, so there are no surprises.
How long does it take?
The delivery time depends on your photo and the level of detail you want. We agree on the delivery time with you up front, together with the price estimate. Do you have a fixed date, for example for a gift or an event? Just let us know.
Can I use the illustration commercially?
Yes, you can use the illustration for business purposes, for example on clothing, products or as a logo. The only condition is that you have the right to use the photo yourself, for example because you took it or have permission from the photographer.
Can you change the background?
Yes. We can keep the original background, simplify it, replace it with a solid colour or create a new background.
Can you make a cut-out illustration?
Yes. We can illustrate the subject without a background, for example a person, pet, car or building.
Do you also make line drawings?
Yes. Besides colour illustrations, we can also create a clean line drawing or outline version.
Can I have several versions made from the same photo?
Yes. For example, one version with background plus a cut-out version or line drawing.
